What Our Parents Say...

Just like home with many learning opportunities. Mason is sad on the days he doesn't go to Heartfelt to see his friends.

Great Start Readiness Program

NOW ENROLLING FOR FALL 2018 school year!

Great Start Readiness program is a FREE preschool program (income eligibility requirements) for children who are 4 by December 1st. Students attend Monday-Thursday from 8:30am-3:30pm

Component of our Daily Routine

Arrival

Students sign, greet their friends and teachers, eat breakfast (as needed) and read books together.

Greeting Time

Both students and teachers meet together to review our daily message board about our schedule for the day and any changes they should be aware of, introduce new materials, solve problems, etc.

Large Group

Large group time is a time for the whole group to come together, building a sense of community while participating in movement and music, interactive storytelling, and much more!

Meal Times

Children and teachers sit down in small groups to enjoy a nutritious snack in a supportive social setting through family style dining.

Planning Time/Work Time/Recall Time (Plan-Do-Review)

Our plan-do-review sequence includes a time for children to make plans with their small groups about what they want to do during work time, a time for the children to carry out their plans or shift to new activities that interest them, and a time to review and recall with their small group about what they have done.

Small Group Time

Children sit with their small groups and their teacher to experiment with materials. Small groups are developed based on the children’s interests, skills and content areas that suit children’s developmental learning needs (Key Developmental Indicators). Children are able to make choices and manipulate materials according to their developmental level while teachers work alongside of the children to encourage and challenge them.

Outside Time

Fresh air and gross motor activities are important for the growth and development of our children. Weather permitting, children will enjoy outside time two times a day.

Transition Times

Transitions are hard! Our teachers intentionally plan meaningful experiences for these times to keep children engaged and learning.

The components of our schedule are based on the HighScope Curriculum. For more information, visit www.highscope.org.
